WELCOME…
…to St. Andrew’s Westminster United Church. Our weekly Sunday service inspires and motivates our members and is relevant to the world of the 21st century. We invite you to join our comfortable and friendly place of worship where you will find something for the entire family. We seek to connect God’s message of love and service to our daily lives and we do so through the engaging preaching of Rev. Sue Browning, and through scripture, song and prayer. Our talented choir and musicians enhance our service as we explore our faith. We are easily located at the intersection of Highbury Avenue South and Glanworth Drive, in a beautiful rural setting between London and St. Thomas.

Our Story
As a church community we are entering a very exciting time in our ministry together. We are a vibrant congregation that is growing and we are looking to the future with anticipation and excitement. Our Sunday school has expanded and we have recently formed a youth group for our teens and re-opened a nursery for our youngest. We enjoy an excellent music program, led by our music director and choir and we have many talented musicians who share their gifts to enrich our services on a regular basis. Our services are enhanced each Sunday by audio/visual PowerPoint presentations.
The Church
At the corner of Glanworth Drive and Highbury Avenue South, tucked behind tall pine trees, sits the quaint yellow brick walls of St. Andrew's Westminster United Church. Built in 1888, a gorgeous slate roof climbs its way up a beautiful steeple, that in summer, peaks high above neighboring corn and wheat fields. Below the arch doorway is an oak door inviting visitors and regulars alike to come inside and experience the warmth of our amazing church community.
Look in our windows…
Famed Swiss-American psychiatrist Elisabeth Kubler-Ross once said, "People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within." St. Andrew's stained-glass windows bring the church interior to life with beautiful colour. Each arched window is unique - glowing in the summer sun and warmly lit up from inside in the colder days of winter.
St. Andrew’s Westminster United Church has a long history that pre-dates the Confederation of Canada. In 1854, a group of settlers who were members of the Church of Scotland decided to form a congregation and build a church. The church was completed in 1856 at a cost of $3200.
As the congregation grew, a new building was needed and was completed in 1888, which is the building that we worship in today. St. Andrew’s Westminster voted to join the union of the Congregational, Methodist and Presbyterian Churches which created the United Church of Canada in 1925. Since then St. Andrew’s has been an integral part of the rural community of Westminster Township, now the southern edge of the City of London. Throughout our long history, we have responded to the needs and wants of our members through youth groups, bible studies, Sunday school, and many other community outreach activities.
Come and find out what we have to offer you!
